The Governor's Workforce Board has awarded $398,335 in worker training grants to 17 Rhode Island companies.
The grants, which must be matched by the companies, help fund programs to improve the skills of existing employees. The grants, ranging from $2,211 to $50,000, will help more than 1,000 Rhode Island-based employees. They are financed through the state's Job Development Fund.
