Gasoline prices have fallen again in Rhode Island on average, but diesel fuel prices are up, according to the results of a weekly survey issued Monday by the state Office of Energy Resources. The price of regular, self-serve gasoline averaged about $2.52 on Monday, down six cents from a week ago, according to the state survey. Somewhat similar findings emerged from a survey by the motor club AAA Southern New England, which said that gas prices in Rhode Island fell by an average of four cents a gallon since a week ago, to $2.54. Rhode Island gas prices have now dropped for five straight weeks, AAA said in a statement issued Monday. But the average price of a gallon of diesel fuel was about $2.71 on Monday, up by six cents since last week, according to the state survey. The price of home heating oil dropped a penny, to $2.46 a gallon, the state survey showed.
