PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Gasoline prices in Rhode Island have increased for the first time in seven weeks, according to AAA Southern New England.

The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas is $2.549 at the self-service pump, an increase of four cents, according to AAA's weekly survey.

The Rhode Island price is two cents below the national average, which increased seven cents in the past week.

As usual, AAA advises drivers to shop for the best price, since its survey found a 29-cent, price range, from a low of $2.399 to a high of $2.689.
