A Michigan food producer is recalling its peanut products, sold in Rhode Island among other states, because of possible salmonella contamination, according to the Associated Press. Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems. Involved in the recall are seven-ounce packages of chocolate-covered peanuts and bulk chocolate-covered peanuts produced by Kilwin's Quality Confections and sold before April 1.
