Wal-mart (WMT:NYSE) said it plans to expand the 90-day prescription drug mail program it began on a pilot basis in Michigan in the spring of 2009.
The program offers 90-day supplies of about 300 generic prescriptions for $10 each, with free delivery. It is being offered in 22 states, including Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts, and the District of Columbia.
The retail behemoth, based in Bentonville, Ark., began a retailing war with the nation's pharmacies in 2006, when it began offering generic drug presciptions for $4.
