NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI -- Boat builders being lauded for their designs will be handed artful glass trophies created by a trio of North Kingstown artists this year. The trophy -- which has peaks like boat sails -- was chosen by Florida-based publisher Bonnier Corp. for its annual marine trades competition. The sculpture was designed by Anchor Bend Glassworks -- a collaborative between glassblowers Michael Richardson, Justin Tarducci and Timothy Underwood. The trophy is being replicated for the winners the Boat of the Year competition hosted by Cruising World and Sailing World magazines, both owned by Bonnier. The three Rhode Island glassblowers spent eight months working together to design and produce the unique trophy commissioned by the magazines. |
