PAWTUCKET, RI -- The state will get $460,000 from the U.S. Department of Transportation for improvements at the rail layover facility in Pawtucket, the federal agency said Thursday.

In the announcement, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said the money, from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, is intended to create jobs and rebuild the nation's infrastructure.

The facility was completed in 2006 after being relocated from Attleboro, Mass. and gives commuter trains on the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's Boston-to-Providence line a place to spend the night.
