WOONSOCKET R. I. -- Summer Infant Inc. has lost a member of its board of directors, Harvard University professor Myra M. Hart, the company reported in a federal regulatory filing last week. Hart, 68, resigned from Summer Infant's board July 31, according to the filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. No reason was given. Summer Infant (SUMR:NASDAQ), based in Woonsocket, designs and sells juvenile health, safety and wellness products to U.S. retailers. It recently acquired Butterfly Living, a Pennsylvania-based crib manufacturer, for an undisclosed sum. Hart had served as a director of Summer Infant since 2004. She remains a director of Nina McLemore, Inc. and Kraft Foods, Inc. Hart was a member of the founding management team of office supply giant Staples Inc., and prior to that, marketing director for the Star Market grocery chain. She has been a member of Harvard's faculty since 1995 and is a trustee of Babson College. She also is a trustee emeritus of Cornell University.
