Woonsocket company buys crib maker

Summer Infant, the Woonsocket-based seller of children's products, said it acquired Butteryfly Living, a Pennsylvania-based crib manufacturer. The price was not disclosed. Butterfly sells its cribs to mass merchant retailers, primarily under a license with Carter's. "Infant cribs, which is an entirely new category for Summer Infant, is a highly attractive segment of our juvenile market, and will represent a valuable addition to our product portfolio," said Jason Macari, chairman and chief executive of Summer Infant. Summer Infant (SUMR:NASDAQ) designs and sells juvenile health, safety and wellness products to U.S. retailers.
