By Paul Grimaldi Toys R. Us Inc. has relaunched the Toys.com Web site as a hub for posting discounts available on toy and baby products, the New Jersey company announced recently. The Web site would draw offerings available from the retailer's other Web sites: Toysrus.com, Babiesrus.com, eToys.com and babyuniverse.com. The centralized hub would offer unadvertised and excluse deals unailable elsewhere and include a "Deal of the Day." The daily deal feature is a popular tactic employed by other retail Web sites, such as Woot.com, which specializes in electronic gadgets, computer peripherals and other such gear. Toys R Us Acquired the Toys.com domain name in March, preceding by two months the Wayne, N.J. company's purchase of iconic toy shop FAO Scwarz. Toys R Us operates about 600 stores in the U.S. and operates, licenses or franchises more than 700 stores in 33 countries outside of the U.S., according to the company's Web site. |
