Small-business group decries efforts to collect state sales tax

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), a trade group for small businesses, called on state tax officials Thursday to ease up on efforts they are taking to collect state sales taxes from businesses.

"With one of the highest state unemployment rates in the country, it is beyond stunning that Rhode Island officials would march down Main Street shutting down 1,200 businesses, leaving proprietors and thousands of workers on the street without a paycheck," said Bill Vernon, NFIB state director for Rhode Island.

"The state of Rhode Island is putting more emphasis on squeezing struggling job providers than they are working to improve the business climate and get our economy back on track -- and that's a road to ruin," he said.

Vernon added, "In addition to kicking some folks while their down, it appears that state officials also made numerous mistakes in their recent campaign to padlock private businesses. That's inexcusable."

The Providence Journal reported on Thursday that state tax officials have put more than 1,200 businesses across the state on notice this week that they are out of business unless they pay their overdue sales taxes immediately.

Vernon said, "Rather than sending agents in to businesses to disrupt commerce and scare customers, policymakers and state officials ought [to] be working on policies to help job providers that are struggling to keep their doors open -- or at the very least not make things worse by closing their doors for them."

If these taxes don't kill these businesses and jobs......the proposed Health Care Bill fiasco will for certain. Page 29 lines 4-16..."your health care will be rationed" Page 22 .."MANDATES the govt will audit books of ALL Employers that self insure" Page 58..."govt will have real-time access to individual finances & a National ID Healthcard will be issued! Page 50..."health care will be provided to ALL non-U.S. citizens, illegal or otherwise" (THIS MEANS WE WILL SEE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF INVADERS JUMPING THE BORDER FENCES BECAUSE THEY NOW KNOW THEY GET FREE HEALTH CARE AND YOU ARE GOING TO PAY FOR IT!) Page 59 "govt will have direct access to your bank accounts for electronic funds transfer" (I HOPE YOU PAY YOUR TAXES BECAUSE BIG BROTHER NOW HAS YOUR BANK ACCOUNT) Page 95...govt will use ACORN to sign up individuals for govt HC plan! (ACORN IS BEING INVESTIGATED FOR RACKETEERING, EMBEZZLEMENT AND VOTER FRAUD IN 12 STATES!) Page 126 "employers MUST pay for health care for part time employees AND their families!!! (A BUSINESS AND JOB KILLER FOR CERTAIN!)

This is just the tip of the iceberg. We now have $104 Trillion in unfunded liabilities for Social Security and Medicare and this idiot government of ours wants to tack on a Orwell Health System on top of it for another $1.5 Trillion!!!!!!!!!!

The cavalier "Go tO hell Attititude " of the state or Rhode Island is arrogance and tyrannical goverment coming into power.

Even the IRS will work with a business owner rather than close down a struggling business. These are bottom feeder goverment employees with an axe to grind over an entrepreneur who tries to make a living. These are clerks who with goverment jobs, have no hope except themsleves except to act as glorified Affirmnative Action clerks.

I've been there. My advice is leave the state and seek a friendly state that works with business. Rhode Island was written off long ago as a jingoistic mecca for socialism replete with pinkos aligned with the Kennedy family.

Bite the bullet if you can, and head for New Hampshire or down South and a republican government.
