Connecticut's two casinos both reported slot-machine revenue was down in June, as a turnaround earlier this year at Foxwoods Resort Casino proved shortlived. Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Resort Casino, both reported June slot-machine "wins" were down about 9 percent when compared with June 2008. Foxwoods Resort Casino and MGM Grand at Foxwood says its June revenue was $57.8 million, a 9.1 percent decrease compared with June 2008. Mohegan Sun reported that it brought in $61.8 million in June, down from $67.8 million a year ago. Both casinos reported their highest slot totals of the year in May. Mohegan Sun reported a May slot "wins" of $69.9 million, a 7 percent year-over-year decline, while Foxwoods' May win was $62.3 million, 14.2 percent less than May 2008. In June, Foxwoods paid Connecticut nearly $14.5 million and Mohegan Sun sent the state nearly $15.5 million, in accordance with the casinos' agreements with the state. Slot wins had moved into positive territory at Foxwoods in February and March as the casino benefited from more promotional efforts and the new MGM Grand. During the 12 months that ended June 30, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun sent $377.8 million to Connecticut, 8.2 percent less than the $411.4 million they turned over during the fiscal year that ended June 2008 and 12.2 percent less than the $430.5 million they provided in June 2007.
