Shaw's Supermarkets has a new division president, the of West Bridgewater, Mass., company announced Thursday morning. Mike Witynski is replacing Larry Wahlstrom, who is retiring after 38 years in the drug and food retailing industry. Witynski, 46, was most recently vice president of the private-label products group of Supervalu Inc. Supervalu became the nation's second-largest supermarket chain in January 2006, when it acquired 1,124 stores, including Shaw's. The West Bridgewater, Mass. chain holds the second-largest share of Rhode Island's grocery sales. Stop & Shop, of Quincy, Mass., holds the state's largest share. |
