BRISTOL, R.I. -- A Roger Williams University program supporting Rhode Island's shell fishing industry will get a $1 million federal grant, the U.S. Commerce Department said. The grant will go to the university's Center for Economic and Environmental Development, which has been working with volunteers and the shellfishing industry to increase Narragansett Bay's population of oysters and quahogs. The commerce department said the grant will create jobs and strengthen the state's economy. |
