PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Heating oil prices jumped by four cents a gallon in the past week, diesel was up two cents and unleaded gasoline is down three cents per gallon, according to Tuesday's survey by the Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources. It marks the second week in a row that gasoline prices have declined, albeit not by much. The average price of self-serve regular is now at $2.67 per gallon. It had dropped two cents to $2.70 last week, marking the first decline in 14 weeks. But that's still a lot less than the $4.11 per gallon price of one year ago. Two years ago, we were paying about $2.92 a gallon. The average price of home heating oil, which had seen a six-cent drop the previous week, was four cents higher Tuesday, at $2.45 per gallon. The price of diesel increased by two cents, to $2.72 per gallon, which is the highest it's been since Dec. 8. gemery@projo.com / (401)277-7442 CommentsLeave a comment |

Gas and Oil wholesale prices have doubled since the beginning of the year despite storage facilities nearly completely full and demand at very low levels while supply is up.
The prices have nothing to do with supply and demand and everything to do with market manipulation.
