James G. Connolly, president of Providence-based Citizens Financial Group, has decided to leave the company, according to the company. Robert D. Matthews Jr., a vice chairman of Citizens, will assume Connolly's responsibilities overseeing commercial banking. Matthews will be based in Boston. Connolly, 48, has held the president's job since March 2008. Citizens said the president's role will not be filled. Connolly was not available for comment. |
