Brown University is partnering with the Draper Laboratory, in Cambridge, Mass., to strengthen its energy research, the university announced Tuesday. Scientists from the nonprofit laboratory have already joined Brown professors in writing applications for federal funding to support a variety of energy projects. The U.S. Department of Energy has $39 billion in federal stimulus funds to give out, and participants in the collaboration say jointly authored grant proposals will have a higher chance of winning support. "We have no hidden agenda, like a commercial company," Len Polizzotto, principal director of strategic business development at Draper, said in an interview. "We want to push the best solution." |
