By Maria Armental PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Senate Women's Caucus has launched its biennial clothing drive to benefit workers who have completed job training but need appropriate clothing. "They have completed lengthy training sessions and gone on interviews. All they need are the right clothes to put on each morning to help them look and feel their best," Sen. Hanna M. Gallo, chairwoman of the Senate Women's Caucus, said in a press release. This year's drive -- held in partnership with Dorcas Place's Clothing Collaborative -- runs through May 29. The collaborative accepts business and business casual clothing and accessories for women and men. Clothing on hangers, in-season, clean, and ready-to-wear is preferred. They don't want jeans or T-shirts. Donor letters can be provided for this tax-deductible contribution. Clothing can be dropped off at Dorcas Place, 220 Elmwood Ave., Providence, any of the network's statewide locations (Westerly's WARM Shelter, 56 Spruce St.; East Providence's East Bay Community Action, 14 Child St.; Woonsocket's Success Wear RSVP, 2 Monument Sq.; and Warwick's Working Wardrobe, 212 Buttonwood Ave.) or at the President of the Senate's Office, Room 118 of the State House. Dorcas Place and its clothing collaborative help low-income adults through training, literacy programs, employment programs, advocacy and community involvement. |
