BOSTON (AP) -- The number of single-family homes being sold in Massachusetts and the price of those homes dropped last month when compared to the same month a year ago, but there is hope on the horizon. The Massachusetts Association of Realtors reported Tuesday that sales of single-family homes declined 13 percent in April when compared to April 2008, while the price fell more than 12 percent, to $275,000 from $314,450. The Warren Group, a Boston-based publisher of real estate data, reported a 14.5 percent drop in sales and a 13 percent tumble in prices in the same period. Both organizations, which use slightly different methods of calculation, say the price declines are actually slowing. The Realtors association says home prices were up in April when compared to March. |
