By Benjamin Gedan It's getting more expensive to drive in Rhode Island. Starting Monday, the state Division of Motor Vehicles will be charging substantially more to reinstate licenses and registrations. The license reinstatement fee is nearly doubling, rising to $151.50 from $76.50. If you lost your license for driving after drinking alcohol or using drugs, or refusing to submit to a chemical test, the price will be $351.50, up from $76.50. The cost of reinstating a registration is jumping to $251.50, nearly five times the current cost ($51.50). The increases were included in Governor Carcieri's amended budget for this fiscal year, designed to close a $357-million deficit. CommentsLeave a comment |

I vote for tripling it for these irresponsible people who KILL others while under the influence.
