By Andy Smith The Trinity Marine Group, a private investment company based in the British Virgin islands, has purchased Quality Yacht Services in Tiverton, plus an adjacent property, for $8.6 million. The company plans to invest another $5 million to turn the property, to be called Trinity Marina, into a facility that can accommodate yachts as large as 300 feet. Quality Yacht Services, formerly owned by Brad Waugh, is located at 95 Riverside Drive in Tiverton, just south of the Sakonnet River Bridge. "The site is perfectly suited for a world class marina and yacht yard with its proximity to Rt. 24, deep water slips, stunning views of the Sakonnet River and easy access to Narragansett Bay , Newport, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. I was thrilled to find such a superb location for this project," said Trinity Marine chairman Keith Laker in a press statement. Paul Fleming, spokesman for the Trinity Marine Group, said the revamped marina will be able to accommodate 70 vessels when it's completed. Fleming said he anticipates the new docks will be in place by this fall. Fleming said the marina, which now has six employees, will continue to provide maintenance and repair services. He said the new Trinity Marina plans on additional hiring, probably next spring, but said he doesn't know yet how many new jobs will be created. |
