PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The steady increase in gasoline prices continues. The Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources' said Monday its weekly survey of 16 stations found that the price of unleaded self-serve gasoline jumped another two cents, to $2.12. The last time the price was this high was in early November. It got as low as $1.67 per gallon just after Christmas. Premium unleaded was selling for as high at $2.46 at the self-service pump. The typical full-service price for regular was $2.26, also up two cents from the previous week. Diesel fuel went up two cents as well, to $2.48 per gallon. Meanwhile, the price of heating oil, which has been bouncing around a bit recently, dropped six cents last week to $2.22 per gallon, according to the state. But the price range among the nine retailers sampled was wide, from $1.95 per gallon to as much as $2.50 per gallon. gemery@projo.com / (401)-277-7442 |
