Executives at the Denny's restaurant chain are serving up a new discount Wednesday, April 8, when its outlets will offer a buy-one-get-one free deal.

Participating franchisees will offer customers a free Grand Slamwhich when they order a Grand Slam breakfast, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Slamwhich includes scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, ham, American cheese and mayonnaise between two pieces of maple-glazed toast.

In a bit of a mixed sports metaphor, the chain will advertise the baseball-themed food during the final weekend of March Madness, the NCAA's annual men's basketball tournament.

There are two Denny's in Rhode Island, in Warwick and Coventry.
