About 100 jobs will be transferred from Massachusetts to Rhode Island when FM Global's new headquarters in Johnston is completed. Despite a legal controversy, the commercial property insurer is proceeding with construction of its new 360,000-square foot headquarters, due for completion in late summer. FM Global officials said about 900 employees will occupy the building, located just past 302 Central Ave.

CapLease, the company that owns FM Global's current headquarters, also in Johnston, filed suit in Superior Court last year alleging the Town of Johnston's planning process was flawed in approving the new building. Last September, following a court-ordered hearing, the town's Planning Board reaffirmed its decisions. William J. Conley, Johnston Town Soliciter, said both sides have submitted their final legal briefs in the case and are awaiting a decision from Judge Michael A. Silverstein.
