Drugmaker Amgen announced today a new ad campaign featuring Project Runway's fashion guru, Tim Gunn. Co-sponsored by Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, the "Addressing Psoriasis" campaign aims to persuade patients with plaque psoriasis to visit a dermatologist and "feel more confident in their everyday style," Amgen said in a statement. The campaign includes a contest "to recognize people who have moderate to severe plaque psoriasis but who try not to allow the condition to inhibit their personal style." In September, Amgen will invite the eight winners to participate in a fashion show in New York City. Psoriasis, an immune system disease that causes rapid skin cell growth, affects 7 million Americans. The most common form of psoriasis is plaque psoriasis, which results in painful "thick, red, scaly patches," according to the National Psoriasis Foundation. |
