Travel at Green Airport dives in January

Passenger traffic at T.F. Green Airport declined 10 percent last month compared to the same period a year ago, according to data out this morning from the state's airport agency.

In all, 310,211 passengers used the airport last month, down from 345,422 in January 2008. Travel in January 2008 was down 2 percent from the previous year. That means a two-year decline of 12 percent and a 19-percent drop from the historic January high in 2005, when traffic hit 380,622.

The figures were releasd by the Rhode Island Airport Corporation, a state agency that runs Green and several smaller state airports.
