Richard Schloesser has been appointed the new chief executive officer of Toray Plastics (America), Inc., based in North Kingstown. He has been with Toray since 1990 and is the first American to hold the company's highest-ranking position. Schloesser most recently served as president and chief operating officer and will keep the title of president. He succeeds Kojiro Maeda who is returning to Toray Industries in Japan to assume the role of deputy general manager, Films Division. Toray Plastics (America) manufactures polyester and polypropylene films for flexible and rigid packaging, lidding, graphic, industrial, optical, and electronic applications. The company is a subsidiary of Toray Industries, Inc., a manufacturer of synthetic fibers and textiles, carbon fibers, plastics, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and high-performance films. Annual sales exceed $16 billion. |
