People have been lining up today at the Macy's store in Providence to receive free, high-end cosmetics being given away to settle a class-action lawsuit that accused manufacturers and department stores of price fixing. As part of the lawsuit's settlement, $175 million worth of free cosmetics products will be distributed to customers of Macy's and the following retailers: Bergdorf Goodman, Bergner's, Bloomingdale's, Boston Store, Carson Pirie Scott, Dillard's, Gottschalks, Herberger's, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Parisian, Saks Fifth Avenue and Younkers. People will be eligible to receive, while supplies last, a one free cosmetics product from one of the manufacturers who were sued. Among the cosmetic brands are: Chanel, Christian Dior, Estée Lauder and L'Oreal. Customers must print their names and then provide their signatures on a legal document saying they had purchased certain cosmetics between May 29, 1994, and July 16, 2003, to receive a product. No photo ID is required. For more information, visit: www.cosmeticssettlement.com, which lists the products that are being given away. CommentsLeave a comment |
