WJAR-TV, Channel 10, laid off 10 employees this week, two of them part-time and the rest full-time. "As a result of the continuing economic crisis that has impacted a lot of our key advertisers, we are taking action to streamline our operations," said Channel 10 general manager Lisa Churchville. Churchville said it is possible there would be additional job cuts at the station in the future. Churchville said most of the laid-off employees were from the station's production and operations areas. One part-time news reporter was let go. Churchville said station policy is not to reveal the names of individual employees affected by lay-offs. "It is very, very difficult to part with valued employees who have contributed to the station," she said. CommentsLeave a comment |

Interesting. Ch. 10 routinely the names of individuals laid-off in both the public and private sector --- but Ch. 10 has a policy NOT to reveal the employees it lays off? If Churchville is going to be consistent, then they should avoid showing up with cameras at companies where there are layoffs and stop videoing the employees straggling out the door. Those opeople, in the private sector like Ch. 10 employees, deserve the same respect that Chruchville seems only to accord her station's laid off individuals. She's a hypocrite!
