Most states are experiencing a drop in tax revenue, not just Rhode Island, according to Jim Eads, executive director of the Federation of Tax Administrators, which represents top state tax officials nationwide.
"Revenues are going down all across the country," Eads said during a break at an economic forum in Providence this morning organized by Governor Carcieri. It's a sign of the declining economy. Only a few states with "significant natural resources" -- such as Alaska -- have not seen the significant revenue drop that most states have, Eads said.
