David W. Keiser, chief operating officer since 1992 and president since 2002 of Alexion Pharmaceuticals, will retire by the end of 2008, the company said today. Keiser, a co-founder of Alexion, played a central role in the launch of Soliris, its drug for a rare blood disorder. Keiser's responsibilities will be distributed among members of Alexion's senior managers reporting to Leonard Bell, Chief Executive Officer. Alexion, based in Cheshire, Conn., has opened a plant in Smithfield to make Soliris. |
