Newport Grand is installing more than 400 new slot machines and six new video blackjack tables in preparation for the opening of its new 22,000 square-food gaming space in September.

Once complete, Newport Grand will offer more than 1,500 slot machines and simulcast wagering.

Newport Grand currently has 1,100 video slot machines and simulcast wagering from the nation's leading thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racetracks along with jai alai from Florida.

Since August 2007, Newport Grand has been in the midst of transforming the former jai alai fronton into two floors, housing an additional 400 new slot machines, video blackjack tables, enhanced security operations, and back of house functions. In addition to the transformation of the fronton, Newport Grand has been making infrastructure improvements and adding new food and beverage outlets. By Helen Arruda
