The newly-refurbished Looff Carousel in Pawtucket will be reopened with a special ceremony at 11 a.m. on Saturday. The carousel was temporarily closed to the public during renovations paid for by a $93,317 state preservation grant from the Rhode Island Historic Preservation and Heritage Commission. The grant was used to paint the interior ceiling, walls and windows of the purportedly oldest Looff Stander Carousel in the world. The total cost of the project was $210,294, with the remaining amount funded by the 2006 parks and recreation bond. CommentsLeave a comment |
