The U.S. Interior Department’s Minerals Management Service plans to hold four public hearings in Massachusetts beginning Monday, March 10, to solicit comments on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the Cape Wind Energy Project. The draft report is available for review at: http://www.mms.gov/offshore/RenewableEnergy/CapeWind.htm. Maureen Bornholdt, the alternative energy and alternate use program manager for the Minerals Management Service, and Rodney Cluck, the agency's Cape Wind Project Manager, will lead the discussions. The first hearing is scheduled for Monday at Mattacheese Middle School Auditorium, in West Yarmouth, Mass., at 6 p.m. In January, the Minerals Management Service released the 718-page Draft Environmental Impact Statement. It found that the proposed wind farm would have mostly “negligible” or “minor” adverse impacts on the environment, recreation, tourism and property values, The Providence Journal reported. |
