Larry Fish, chairman of Providence-based Citizens Financial Group, is scheduled to testify today in Washington, D.C. regarding the 30th anniversary of the Community Reinvestment Act, which requires banks to invest in their communities.
The hearing is being held by the House Financial Services Committee, chaired by U.S. Rep. Barney Frank, D-New Bedford. The hearing will examine the impact of CRA on the provision of loans, investments and services to under-served communities. In addition to exploring CRA’s success, the hearing will examine challenges that prevent the law from being more effective.
