Sales of aircraft, especially business jets, boosted Textron Inc.'s fourth quarter earnings by 31 percent, the Providence-based company reported this morning. Net income climbed to $256 million, or $1 a share, from $195 million, or 76 cents, in the year-earlier period. Sales rose 18 percent to $3.76 billion. Commercial aircraft orders rose as corporate profits spurred companies to buy more Cessna business jets and aircraft sales to foreign customers increased. Cessna's order backlog is valued at a record $12.6 billion, the company said. Cessna is Textron's biggest division with $5 billion in sales in 2007 CommentsLeave a comment |
