Raytheon Co., the world's largest missile maker, said fourth-quarter profit rose 84 percent, lifted by higher sales of combat systems and a tax gain, the Bloomberg news agency reported. The strong fourth quarter resulted in $21.3 billion in total sales for 2007 and a $1.7-billion profit, the Waltham, Mass.-based company reported. Raytheon operates a complex in Portsmouth, where it employs 1,626 people. For more on Raytheon's operations in Rhode Island, please see The Providence Journal's Sunday edition. |
