Advocates for compressed-natural-gas vehicles were probably thrilled to learn that the new parking operator at T.F. Green Airport, Chicago-based Standard Parking Corp., had replaced the airport shuttles with CNG-powered vehicles.

But just as one state agency embraces the technology, which produces less carbon dioxide than diesel-burning engines, another is poised to abandon it.

The Journal's Bruce Landis has reported that the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority wants to discontinue use of its fleet of CNG-powered green trolleys.
